Greater Westfield high school students are encouraged to apply now for the 2026 Westfield Kiwanis Club Good Citizen award.
The Good Citizen Award was established by the club more than 50 years ago to encourage high school students to donate their time and effort to “selfless community service,” one of the most important precepts of Kiwanis in accordance with the fifth Object of Kiwanis, which is “To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build better communities.”
One student at each of the high schools in the Club’s service area, which includes Westfield and Southwick, will be chosen to receive a $1,000 cash award.
The award is not a scholarship, and students in any year of high school may apply. All applications received by the deadline of April 15 will be reviewed by an impartial panel of judges which will select the awards winners. Students’ names and other identifying information is redacted from the applications to avoid any possibility of favoritism or prejudice.
Students attending Westfield High School, Westfield Technical Academy, St. Mary’s High School and Southwick Regional School are encouraged to apply. Printed applications will be available in those schools’ Guidance Departments, or an application may be downloaded by clicking this link.
